The latest saga with the makeover project this week is the doors.  We spent a little while removing all four doors and it took a little muscle to beat the painted over hinges off the door frames.  Now, you know I can’t switch out the doors without doing something to those rusty painted hinges.  Yet another project, but today I’m focusing on picking a color. I’ve fallen in love with a dark interior door and I’m convinced it’s going to increase the value of my home by thousands.  Ok, maybe not thousands….hundreds, maybe???  In my  mind, it’s going to feel really rich and give the room some much needed sophistication.  So, I’m stuck on two different, but not so different colors for dark doors: Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron or  Benjamin Moore Mopboard Black.

Even though they probably look the same, there is a slight difference.  It was a little difficult for me to tell the two apart when I sampled them on one of the doors. However, I could tell the difference in the photo below. The panel on the left is Mopboard Black and the right side is Wrought Iron. Hmmmmmmm, which one will it be? I’m leaning towards Mopboard Black and buying new hinges in oil rubbed bronze or black.

What a dilemma, but I think Mopboard black has won.  Okay, now how in the world am I going to paint these things???  Where am I going to paint them?  Ugghhh, can any part of this makeover be easy???  Stay tuned!

    • Hi Kristi! I used Wrought Iron on the doors and Mopboard Black on my wall in the bonus room. I love how both turned out. Thanks for checking out my blog.

      • Thanks for the update! Does the Mopboard wall sit close to one of your Wrought Iron doors?

I’m thinking of doing a shiplap feature wall in my bathroom so trying to get my head around if the door was wrought iron but you walked right into the bathroom and saw the mopboard black wall next to it. Are they different enough to look intentional.

        • I think I would choose one or the other. With that said, I’m the only one that can tell there are two different dark colors in my bonus room. Everyone that sees it thinks the doors and the walls are black. Mopboard is the darkest of the two and wrought iron is definitely super dark gray-black. If you put the two very close together, you’ll see how much they differ. If you choose one color, the eye will see it all as black. But not a stark black..like SW Tricorn Black.
