We happened upon the Beach House Restaurant when visiting the island. It looked like a cool beach spot to grab lunch so we gave it a try. The decor is spot on beach themed, but not too cheesy. We were laughing with the hostess from the time we approached the stand until she seated us. That woman was hilarious and had such a pleasant personality, which is what you’d expect in a touristy area but don’t always get.
This is a huge restaurant with lots of indoor/outdoor seating and was a bit empty while we were there. They can definitely accommodate a big group as well. It was a really late lunch for us and I think we beat the rush for lunch and were a bit early for dinner. I could see this place being easily crowded in peak season. The menu offered the usual fried shrimp, fish and chips, etc., but they had a few interesting pasta entrees and the salads sounded good.
Our waitress came right after we were seated and took our drink orders. Since we were on vacation, I had to go for a cocktail or two. Why not, right? The Surfer’s Delight was a delight. I also sipped on the Jekyll Island Iced Tea during my meal. If you can, try a cocktail. You’ll love it!
I had a taste for shrimp and ordered fried shrimp and potatoes. It was excellent. Fried perfectly and the slightly curled fries were tasty! Sitting out on the patio with the ocean view and breeze, with my food and drink made for a perfect afternoon lunch. I honestly could have sat there for hours. The lunch menu prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were plentiful.
If you’re visiting Jekyll Island, be sure to stop in for at least one of your meals. You’ll be glad you did.
