Turnagain Arm is beautiful! Every mile of that drive is probably the most scenic in America…in my opinion. Fortunately, I got to drive this route several times during My Alaska Dream Vacation and it never got old.
The start of this scenic drive appears just south of the City of Anchorage and is easy to navigate. We drove it for the first time headed to Seward for our Glacier Cruise. Even though we were on a bit of a time crunch we were able to stop a couple of times to take it all in.
Seward Highway runs alongside Cook Inlet and there are several scenic view stopping areas along the highway for you to pull over and take all the selfies your heart desires.
In Alaska it seemed like the sun was right on top of us! It didn’t really get dark until around 10pm or so. My internal clock was all off during this trip.
My cousin Tiv and I were mesmerized each time we traveled along Seward Highway and we stopped at several different spots along the way. There is even a place where you can watch Belugas and catch a view of the Alaska Bore Tide. Watching all that water rush in was a spectacular show.
If you have time to take this scenic route, do it! You won’t be disappointed.
