Since I was a little girl I’ve loved flowers and I’ve grown to love them even more now. My yard is mostly shade, so growing my own cutting garden hasn’t really worked out. I had to resort to buying flowers on a budget. The easiest place to do that is at my local grocery stores. For only $12, I have come up with easy DIY grocery store flower bouquet ideas for my home that I’d like to share with you.
Roses always seem to be the “in” flower, but I lean towards all the other cut flowers that are even prettier, less expensive and last three times as long as roses. Sorry, roses. No shade! Well, maybe a little.
Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian Lillies, tends to be overlooked and it’s beautiful. They come in many different colors and you can get about 30 stems for under $20. The trick is to buy them when the buds are closed tight. These should last you almost two weeks as long as you keep the water clean.
Three huge bunches for $12! You can’t beat that. Who needs roses anyway??
I put this bunch of Alstroemeria in a white flower pot. You can use pretty much any container you want, just cut the stalks to fit.
The picture above shows a bunch of Peruvian lilies that have opened up after a week. This arrangement lasted for over two weeks!
I mixed in a few tulips with these. That’s the beauty of making your own arrangement.
I love all the different color options. You can get white, yellow, pink, red, purple and ORANGE!
Tulips are another option that I love. These are available starting in early spring and are also budget friendly. They don’t last as long as I would like, but they are very beautiful.
There is such a great variety of tulip colors that will fit with your decor or mood for that day. These would be lovely on your desk at work or your bathroom counter. Anywhere to brighten up your space.
I loved the leaves on these tulips and didn’t want to cut any off, so I came up with this simple slightly leaning arrangement.
Sometimes you might just need a little greenery. They happened to have a bunch of eucalyptus stems marked down and I grabbed them all. These arrangements lasted almost a month. Greenery is beautiful on it’s own. Try it for your next floral display.
I had some leftover cedar wood scraps that I used with this floral display.
A good time to catch flower deals are after the big flower holidays. I found a great deal on roses after Valentine’s Day and mixed them with my favorite Peruvian Lilies. Every now and then I’ll admire a rose.
Another 3 for $12 buy and this one included sunflowers, hydrangeas, and alstroemeria.
These purple beauties came from Trader Joe’s for $3.99 a bunch. I’m not sure what they are called, but this arrangement lasted for two weeks.
Trader Joe’s is a great place to find a variety of beautiful blooms. I scored finding rananculus stems.
No rules here! Just buy what you like and put it in a vase. Look at the miniature orange roses!!!
This is about $25 worth of flowers and it made three full arrangements.
You don’t have to spend a fortune or wait for a special occasion to enjoy beautiful blooms. Gorgeous floral arrangements can be made using inexpensive flower bunches you can pick-up at the local grocery store. The easiest way to brighten up a space is to add FLOWERS. Take my word for it.
